ROME

After breakfast, begin your discovery of ‘The Eternal City’ of Rome at your own pace on an extensive hop-on hop bus through the heart of Rome. The tour offers sightseeing routes that cover all the main sights in the city with live commentary. Visit the Trevi fountain to the Colosseum; Rome’s incredible sights rival those of any other city on the planet in terms of their beauty, historical importance, and ability to take your breath away simply. Whether your interests lie in antiquity, architecture, cuisine, culture, religion, shopping, or sport, Rome has something to suit all tastes. In the evening, walk through the Pantheon, marvel at Michelangelo’s Piazza del Campidoglio, and admire the Swiss Guardsmen of Vatican City. Try a ‘proper’ spaghetti allaCarbonara near the Spanish Steps or sit back with a coffee and people-watch in Piazza Novena. Alternatively, if you fancy a break from Rome sightseeing, act like a local and take in a Lazio or Roma match at the Olympic Stadium or opportunity to sample the city’s delicious Italian cuisine in the quaint part of town, known as Trastevere, which is full of small local restaurants. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3

ROME

After having breakfast visit at LAND-USE PLANNING SYSTEMS IN THE OECD and Meeting with Officials.

Italy has four levels of government: national, regional (19 regions and 2 autonomous provinces with regional powers), provincial (110 sections, out of which ten acquired the status of the metropolitan city in 2015), and local (8 047 municipalities). Italy is a unitary country, but its land-use planning system follows a model generally observed in federal countries, with regional laws and regulations as the primary source of legal provisions outlining the planning process. However, despite the high degree of regional autonomy, actual planning systems are similar across the country.

Several coordination mechanisms exist in Italy. They combine elements of vertical coordination and features of horizontal coordination. The State–Regions Conference is a forum to co-ordinate high-level issues regarding spatial planning and environmental regulations between the national and the regional governments. Primarily at the local level, Service Conferences coordinate regulatory decisions that require approval from several different agencies and service providers. They are often used to facilitate the planning of local service provision and infrastructure delivery. If necessary, they can also involve higher levels of government. Special development projects can be coordinated between levels of government through Programme Agreements, which also enable municipalities to issue joint land-use plans.
Visit Lumsa University & attend a short workshop. There is a master’s program in sustainable land management at Lumsa University. The Master of Science degree program in Sustainable Land Management is a two-year, full-time course. The first year provides a fundamental basis in physical land resources, including supporting methodological courses. The second-year offers specialized courses in one of both main subjects: either Land and Groundwater Management or Urban Land Engineering.
